On the evening of May 30, 2018, the Spanish Lake neighborhood in North St. Louis County, Missouri, became the scene of a tragic event involving an 18-year-old Black male named Travell Charles LeFlore. Known to his friends and family for a smile described as capable of lighting up the world, Travell was the youngest of six siblings and was remembered for his goofy personality and deep affection for his loved ones.
He was a young man with a promising future, often seen active on social media and cherished by his sisters who looked upon him with pride.
Around 10:45 p.m. that Wednesday night, a disturbance broke out in the 1100 block of June Avenue. The quiet of the late spring evening was shattered when witnesses reported hearing a volley of approximately eight gunshots. The sudden violence drew the immediate attention of local residents and law enforcement, who rushed to the scene to investigate the source of the gunfire. Upon arrival, officers from the St. Louis County Police Department discovered Travell unresponsive at the scene, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
