In the summer of 2007, a wave of violence was washing over Indianapolis, leaving families and communities reeling. It was during this turbulent time that the life of 28-year-old Paul H. Curry III, an African-American man, was tragically cut short. On the night of August 3, 2007, a knock came at the door of his apartment in the 3600 block of Merrick Way on the northwest side of the city.
