In the fall of 2018, the story of 46-year-old Crystal Chrisp, a female resident of the St. Louis area, came to a tragic end. Her death on October 2, 2018, was the culmination of a personal battle with cancer. Authorities confirmed that Chrisp died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in her Affton apartment. On the day of her death, emergency services also responded to a fire at her residence.
Prior to her death, Chrisp's primary concern was for the welfare of her beloved dog, Shell.
She penned a heartfelt letter and personally took Shell to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. In the note, she expressed her love for her dog, explaining that she had lost her fight with cancer and needed to ensure Shell would be placed in a loving home. Her final act was one of selfless love for her canine companion. There were no suspects or arrests in connection with her death, as it was determined to be a suicide.
