In the early hours of July 9, 2020, a promising young Black woman's life was tragically cut short in Saint-Louis, Missouri. Adriona Moorehead, a 21-year-old female, was driving home from a friend's house when she became an unintended victim of gun violence. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Goodfellow Boulevard, occupants of two separate vehicles began exchanging gunfire, and Adriona was caught in the crossfire.
Her vehicle, struck by the gunfire, crashed into a parked car.
First responders found her inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, Adriona Moorehead was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of her death, she was a sophomore and a member of the Honors Society at Harris-Stowe State University. She was also an entrepreneur, having started her own online business selling wigs and bonnets.
The St. Louis Police Department's homicide division has been investigating the case. While no arrests have been made, authorities have identified two vehicles of interest in connection with the shooting: a white or cream-colored vehicle, possibly a convertible, and a gray four-door vehicle with a sunroof. Investigators have released surveillance footage to the public in the hopes of gathering more information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individuals responsible for Adriona's death. The suspects remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
