In the early morning hours of October 5, 2018, the life of 17-year-old Makayla Brooks was tragically cut short in what authorities have described as a senseless act of violence. The female teenager was asleep on the couch in the front living room of a residence in the 5500 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard in Raytown, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, when she was fatally shot. Several other people were present in the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was physically harmed.
