On the evening of October 9, 2018, police in Kansas City, Missouri, responded to a disturbance call at Sheffield Park, located near the intersection of 12th Street and Winchester Avenue. Around 7:00 p.m., officers arrived at the scene to discover an unresponsive male lying on the ground in the middle of the park.
