On March 28, 2019, police in Kansas City, Missouri, launched a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting in the 2400 block of Lister Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the residence around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered 30-year-old Joseph D. Corum inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.
