On a spring evening in 2019, the life of 19-year-old Koreyion Brown, a Black male, was tragically cut short in the St. Louis suburb of Wellston. On May 13th, officers from the North County Police Cooperative were dispatched to the 1500 block of Wellston Place around 6:30 p.m. following a report of a person down. Upon their arrival, they discovered Brown's body; he had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident prompted the activation of the Major Case Squad of Greater St.
Louis to lead the homicide investigation.
The investigation quickly centered on a primary suspect, 18-year-old Ke'Shuan Jones. Authorities announced that at-large warrants were issued for Jones, charging him with first-degree murder, assault in the first degree, and armed criminal action. For a time, Jones remained a fugitive, prompting a public search for his whereabouts. The manhunt came to an end in July 2019 when he was located and taken into custody in Mesa, Arizona, following a brief foot chase.
Following his capture, Jones was slated for extradition back to Missouri to face the charges against him. Law enforcement officials expressed hope that his arrest would bring a measure of closure to Koreyion Brown's grieving family. The case against Ke'Shuan Jones then proceeded to move through the legal system.
