On the night of June 10, 2019, tragedy struck the Carr Square neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, when police officers were summoned to a residence on the 1500 block of North 20th Street. Just before midnight, around 11:40 p.m., authorities arrived to find an 11-year-old female named Charnija Keys suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the head.
