On the morning of July 10, 2021, authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, were alerted to a tragic scene in the Downtown West neighborhood. Around 10:00 a.m., first responders arrived near the intersection of 19th Street and Washington Avenue after receiving reports regarding a vehicle parked in the area. Upon inspecting the car, officials discovered two individuals inside who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
They were pronounced dead at the scene, launching an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violence.
The victims were identified as Mark Parker, a 29-year-old resident of St. Louis, and Lea Kent, a 22-year-old female from University City. Homicide detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department took over the case to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
