In the summer of 2019, 14-year-old Damian Norfleet Jr. was looking forward to starting high school and pursuing his passion for football. A formidable presence on the field, the 5-foot-11, 220-pound middle school left tackle for the Grandview Bulldogs was a dominant player with dreams of one day playing professionally. He had just completed his eighth-grade year at Grandview Middle School and planned to spend his vacation working out and preparing for the upcoming season.
Damian was known by his loved ones as a joyful young man who could light up a room with his humor.
The night of June 24th brought an abrupt and tragic end to Damian's promising future. At approximately 11:30 p.m., while sweeping the floor inside his family's home in the 13100 block of Ashland Avenue in Grandview, Missouri, a volley of bullets shattered a window. Damian was struck in the head and chest and succumbed to his injuries. His father, Damian Norfleet Sr., arrived home to find his son mortally wounded and attempted to render aid while waiting for help to arrive.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Grandview Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Despite their efforts and pleas to the public for assistance, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been officially named in the case. The murder of Damian Norfleet Jr. remains unsolved. His family continues to seek justice, and a significant reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Damian's memory is kept alive by his family, friends, and the Grandview community, who remember him as a beloved son and a talented athlete whose life was cut tragically short. His former teammates honored him on what would have been his senior night by carrying his number 58 jersey onto the field.
