In the early morning hours of July 20, 2019, the life of 27-year-old Christopher L. Stanford was tragically cut short in Raytown, Missouri. Responding to reports of gunfire and a subsequent car crash, police discovered Stanford deceased inside a wrecked vehicle in the 10700 block of East 59th Street. An investigation revealed he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Details emerged that a female passenger was in the vehicle with Stanford at the time of the shooting.
She managed to escape by jumping from the moving car and was subsequently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Her account of the events provided investigators with crucial information. Witnesses reported that a man shot Stanford before fleeing the scene.
A short time after the discovery of Stanford, police received additional reports of a man firing at another individual in the vicinity of the 6100 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard. However, upon arrival, neither a victim nor the suspect could be located. It remains unclear if this incident was directly connected to Stanford's death.
In the days following the homicide, the Raytown Police Department identified a person of interest they wished to speak with regarding the case: 22-year-old Jordan T. Coleman. A photograph of Coleman was released to the public with a request for any information on his whereabouts. Despite this development, there have been no subsequent announcements of any arrests or charges being filed in connection with the death of Christopher Stanford.
