On the afternoon of October 12, 2019, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were summoned to a residential neighborhood following reports of gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene near East 53rd Street and Wabash Avenue just before 4:00 p.m., officers discovered the body of 17-year-old male Leighlan T. Fleming in the driveway of a private residence. Authorities determined that the victim had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, marking him as the 120th homicide victim in the city that year.
