On February 5, 2020, at approximately 12:40 a.m., St. Louis police responded to a shooting incident at the CityView Apartments located in the 100 block of North 17th Street in the Downtown West neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Jim Floyd, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old woman was also found with gunshot injuries; she was transported to a nearby hospital and listed in critical condition.
