On the evening of April 8, 2020, a young Black man named Thomas Young, age 27, was left at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, launching a homicide investigation into his death.
