On May 2, 2024, law enforcement officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a distress call reporting a 'cutting' incident at a residence in the Southwest Garden neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The emergency call was placed late that morning, directing police to a home located in the 4500 block of Cleveland Avenue, situated just blocks away from the Missouri Botanical Garden.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive male victim inside the residence who was suffering from multiple puncture wounds.
The victim, identified as Dorcino Jackson, a male resident of St. Louis, was found to have sustained critical injuries, specifically stab wounds to his lower right back and upper right arm. Authorities noted that he was bound to a wheelchair at the time of the attack due to a prior leg injury, which rendered him unable to defend himself or flee the assault. Despite the arrival of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation, securing the area and recovering a knife from a drawer in the home that appeared to have been partially cleaned but still retained traces of dried blood.
Following the discovery of the body, police arrested 30-year-old Tina Jackson, who was at the residence. Investigators determined that Tina Jackson and the victim were romantic partners who lived together in the home along with children they shared. According to the probable cause statement, the couple had engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated into physical violence, leading Tina Jackson to stab the victim. During questioning by homicide detectives, she admitted to the stabbing. Subsequent legal proceedings saw St. Louis prosecutors charge Tina Jackson with felony first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death. Detectives also uncovered a prior domestic incident from 2021 where the suspect had allegedly attempted to slash the victim's car tires with a knife.
