The investigation into Jones's death revealed a connection to a separate shooting incident
that had occurred shortly before his body was discovered. Police determined that the violence was linked to a disturbance at a QuikTrip gas station located approximately one and a half miles away on Gravois Avenue. At that secondary scene, investigators found a blue hatchback and evidence of a shooting. Another victim, who had been shot in the chest and arm at the gas station, survived the encounter and was hospitalized in critical condition.
