In the early morning hours of April 3, 2021, tragedy struck in the Dutchtown neighborhood of South St. Louis, Missouri, involving Kanoy Danielle Clark, a 34-year-old African American woman. At approximately 7:30 a.m., local law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Louisiana Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, authorities discovered Clark suffering from a critical gunshot wound to her chest. Although she was found conscious and breathing, she was unresponsive to officers and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
Detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. For several weeks, investigators worked to piece together the events that led to Clark's death. The investigation eventually identified a suspect, and on April 29, 2021, police arrested Vincent Gianino in connection with the homicide. Following his apprehension, the Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Gianino with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
