In the summer of 2021, the life of 18-year-old Travis Morrow was tragically cut short on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri. On June 14, Morrow was found with gunshot wounds to his head near the intersection of O'Fallon and Commercial streets in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Morrow, a resident of Florissant, was not the only victim of the violence that day; a 16-year-old girl was also shot in the arm but survived her injuries.
The
investigation into the shooting led to the identification of a suspect, Brandon Howard. In April 2022, prosecutors charged Howard with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action for his alleged role in the incident that claimed Morrow's life. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a shootout between individuals in two different vehicles.
The legal proceedings against Howard for the murder of Travis Morrow have been complex. In an unrelated case, Howard was tried for a 2022 triple shooting on the riverfront that resulted in one death and two injuries, but he was acquitted of those charges in December 2025. His trial for the murder of Travis Morrow took place in November 2024. However, the trial ended in a mistrial after a juror became ill during deliberations. As a result, the case against Brandon Howard for the death of Travis Morrow remains pending in the justice system.
