On May 7, 2022, the Academy neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, became the scene of a fatal domestic dispute that claimed the life of 30-year-old Tyron Madison, a Black male resident of the city. Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call late that Saturday evening, arriving at the 5200 block of Ridge Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Madison suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.
The investigation revealed that the violence stemmed from an argument over car keys that escalated rapidly. Madison was not the only victim that night; a woman present at the scene was also struck by gunfire, sustaining a wound to her foot.
