In the Penrose neighborhood of St. Louis, a violent altercation on June 15, 2019, resulted in the death of 22-year-old Ray Acklin. The incident, which involved five people, began when Acklin shot a 37-year-old man. In an act of retaliation, the brother of the man who was shot then fired at Acklin, killing him.
The chaotic scene unfolded around 11:14 a.m. in the 4600 block of Richard Place.
After shooting Acklin, the brother also fired into a car where two women were sitting, believing they were also involved in the initial confrontation. One of the women, aged 27, was shot in the leg but survived her injuries. The 37-year-old man who was first shot by Acklin was transported to a local hospital in critical and unstable condition.
