James R. Hundle, a 52-year-old resident of Columbia, Missouri, was found dead in his home on October 13, 2021. Hundle, who was an assistant to the vice-chancellor and dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri, was discovered with a gunshot wound after police conducted a wellness check at his residence on Marble Cedars Drive. The Columbia Police Department immediately launched an investigation, treating the case as a possible homicide.
