Cornelius A. Flowers Jr., a 37-year-old Black male resident of Kansas City, Missouri, became the victim of a homicide in the early months of 2022. Known to his friends and family as 'Tony,' he was a local figure who held deep Rastafarian beliefs and had a passion for music, specifically rapping. On the morning of January 22, 2022, the events leading to his untimely death began to unfold in a residential neighborhood in the 8000 block of Euclid Avenue.
Law enforcement officials received a
call regarding a prowler in the area around 11:15 a.m. As officers responded to the scene, the situation rapidly escalated from a disturbance report into a violent encounter involving gunfire. Upon their arrival, police discovered Flowers behind a residence, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. First responders provided immediate aid and transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival.
Following the shooting, investigators quickly secured the scene and took a person of interest into custody.
