In the fall of 2019, 25-year-old Bobby Lee Rodriguez was reported missing, beginning a case that would span several years. His last known whereabouts were in Lemhi County, Idaho, on September 30, 2019. An investigation by the Springdale, Arkansas Police Department was initiated in November 2019 after family members were unable to make contact with him.
The initial stages of the investigation revealed that Rodriguez had been dropped off by a taxi near Wagonhammer Spring, south of North Fork, Idaho. He reportedly told the taxi driver he was in the area to meet a relative who was camping. Rodriguez was in possession of what he described as a gift for this relative: a firearm in a box.
As the investigation progressed, it was learned that Rodriguez had purchased items that appeared to be for camping shortly before his disappearance. Despite these leads, the case grew cold after an initial search of the area and interviews with local residents and businesses yielded no sightings of Rodriguez. For years, his family and friends were left without answers. Law enforcement agencies kept the case open, periodically reviewing the details in hopes that new information would surface. The remote and rugged terrain of the region presented significant challenges to search efforts, and with no new leads, the investigation stalled.
Tragically, the search for Bobby Rodriguez came to a somber conclusion in November 2025. A fisherman discovered human remains on a hillside above the Salmon River, west of North Fork. At the scene, investigators found personal belongings and a rusted shotgun. DNA testing later confirmed the remains to be those of Bobby Lee Rodriguez. Authorities stated that there was no evidence of foul play discovered during the extensive, multi-jurisdictional investigation.
