Rainer Klimek, a 36-year-old man originally from Germany, was last seen on August 15, 1999, in Wailua, Hawaii. He was staying with a host family on the island of Kauai at the time of his disappearance. Klimek left for a walk and never returned. His personal belongings, including his backpack and journal, were found at the host family's residence, but his wallet and passport were missing, suggesting he may have taken them with him.
