Krystal Bailey, a 29-year-old woman from Barre, Vermont, went missing on February 25, 2017, following a car accident in Plainfield, Vermont. Bailey was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her friend, Allie Duda, who was under the influence at the time. After their car crashed on Brook Road, both women fled the scene, apparently to avoid police detection, and headed toward the nearby Lower Great Brook. Duda was later found on the riverbank, but Bailey was not.
Authorities believe that Bailey likely entered the water and was unable to escape the fast-moving current. Personal items, including her purse, were discovered downstream, further supporting the theory that she may have drowned. Despite extensive searches of the river and surrounding areas, Bailey’s body has never been recovered. The search for Bailey was eventually suspended, though law enforcement continues to treat the case as a presumed drowning based on the evidence.
