On October 19, 2020, 63-year-old Fern Baird, a resident of Park City, Utah, embarked on a solo day hike near Ketchum, Idaho, from which she would not return. An experienced hiker and avid skier, Baird was visiting the area and had sought recommendations for a local trail from the staff at her hotel.
