Robert Canon, 52, was last seen on October 9, 2011, at the East Pleasanton BART station in Pleasanton, California. He had visited the San Francisco Bay Area with a friend for a convention and was supposed to take a BART train to the San Francisco airport for a flight back to Oklahoma. However, Canon never boarded his flight. Shortly after, his backpack, containing his cell phone and laptop, was found on the Golden Gate Bridge, though his clothing bag was never recovered.
