In the quiet community of Leaburg, Oregon, a young man named Chayston "Chase" Eugene Robertson, aged 25, vanished, leaving behind a deepening mystery. The last contact anyone had with him was on April 29, 2020. When he remained out of touch for several days, which was unusual for him, his concerned family officially reported him as a missing person on May 2, 2020. This marked the beginning of a distressing search and a long period of uncertainty for his loved ones and the tight-knit community. A significant development in the case came on May 4, when Robertson's vehicle was discovered abandoned on a remote spur road. The car was located approximately eleven miles up Quartz Creek Road, in the McKenzie River basin area near the community of Vida. Inside the vehicle were his cell phone and other personal belongings, but there was no sign of Robertson himself. The discovery of his car and possessions in such a secluded location only served to heighten the mystery surrounding his disappearance and raised many questions about the circumstances that led to him leaving his vehicle behind. In the wake of this discovery, extensive search operations were launched in the rugged and densely forested terrain surrounding Quartz Creek Road. Ground teams and K9 units meticulously combed the area, while the Oregon Army National Guard provided air support to aid in the search. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no clues were found to indicate which direction Robertson might have gone. The challenging wilderness, an area Robertson was reportedly familiar with, yielded no answers. The lack of any substantial leads eventually led to the scaling back of the intensive search. The investigation into what happened to Chayston Robertson remains open, a haunting and unresolved case that has left a lasting impact on the community of the McKenzie River Valley.
