John Henry Sanderson was a 28-year-old man when he was last seen on October 17, 1981, in Berens River, Manitoba. He had been spending time with friends in the community before deciding to leave Berens River in a 22-foot boat and travel toward Jackhead, Manitoba. The conditions on the water were troubling enough that the people with him urged him not to make the trip.
