On September 19, 1980, James Neckoway and a friend departed Bird, Manitoba by canoe for the purpose of hunting and fishing. Their plan was to travel down the Limestone River, followed by the Nelson River. The canoe in which the men were travelling and the body of his friend were recovered on September 23. James has not been located and is presumed drowned.
