On June 2, 1978, two men found a racing canoe and called the police. During the ensuing investigation, it was discovered that there were two men in the canoe, apparently on their way to dig for Seneca root on Moose Lake in Manitoba. According to witnesses who saw the men leave, they left in adverse weather conditions, including high winds. Reuban has not been located and his whereabouts remain unknown.
