On December 3, 1979, Shane Olecka was reported missing to the Beausejour RCMP. Shane was last seen leaving his home the previous day to go rabbit hunting. He was an experienced woodsman and there was no logical reason for him to be overdue. The weather conditions worsened to 'blizzard-like' on December 3rd and made the search efforts very difficult.
