On October 21, 2008, it was reported a boat had capsized in Lake Winnipeg, 15 miles south east of Poplar River between Marchand Point and George Island. The boat left Poplar Point on Oct 20, 2008, to remove buoys from Lake Winnipeg. During the evening, the boat experienced technical difficulties and was unable to continue.
