On June 6, 1979, James Gordon Nevin left his home in Amherstburg, Ontario, for a two-week vacation to visit relatives. He had a grandson in Winnipeg, Manitoba and a son in Prince George, British Columbia. The relatives were not informed of his planned visit. On June 14, 1979, the RCMP responded to a call and located his 1974 white/maroon Dodge Coronet in a ditch between Rocanville, Saskatchewan and St. Lazare, Manitoba.
