On June 3, 2003, at approximately 9:00 a.m. a fisherman and his helper, Phillip McKay, left Berens River Manitoba to retrieve their commercial fishing nets from Sandy Bar Bay. Upon arrival, one of the nets got caught in the propeller of the boat motor, pulling the boat down. Shortly thereafter, 2 large waves capsized the boat and both men were thrown into the water.
