A lake freighter capsized in a violent storm on Lake Winnipeg, just north of Hecla Island, Manitoba. The vessel carried nine crew members and one passenger. There was only one survivor who managed to float on a piece of the wreckage to safety. All of the bodies of the remaining occupants were recovered with the exception of Allan Clemens and Tache Everett who were never located.
