On July 5, 1975, Carl Gallen was employed as a steelworker on the Long Spruce Dam project. He and his partner were working on a cement wall near the river. Carl was drilling into the wall when he fell into the water. His partner stated that he went directly under the water and did not see him surface. Carl wasn't wearing a harness or lifejacket. It's presumed he drowned.
