Michael Patrick Ahern, 42, was last seen on January 6, 2019, in Stillwater, New York. This was also the last day his cellular phone was used. At the time of his disappearance, Ahern was living at the former clubhouse of the Rolling Pride Motorcycle Club on Brickyard Road and was involved with local motorcycle clubs. His vehicles, including a green 2003 GMC pickup truck, his medications, and his dog were all left behind at the clubhouse, with no arrangements made for the dog's care.
It was considered uncharacteristic of Ahern to leave without warning, and he was not known to be depressed at the time.
The investigation into Ahern's disappearance led law enforcement to suspect foul play. On March 15, 2019, Jack Jeffers, who also lived at the clubhouse, was involved in a property damage accident and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun when stopped by police. After a lengthy investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police, it was determined that this handgun was the weapon used to kill Ahern. Investigators concluded that Jeffers and Ahern were alone at the Brickyard Road address on January 6, 2019, when Jeffers killed Ahern and removed his body from the location. The motive for the killing was believed to be a personal dispute, with ongoing tensions between the two men over drugs and money.
In January 2021, Jack Jeffers pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Ahern's death. In April 2021, he was sentenced to four to twelve years in prison for manslaughter and nine years for the weapons charge, with the sentences to run concurrently.
