Joaquin Velilla was a 35-year-old male last seen on January 11, 2007, in Haleiwa, Hawaii, after he went out to surf at the Banzai Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore. He was known in the surfing community not only as a passionate surfer, but also as a surfboard shaper, someone whose life and work were closely tied to the ocean.
