In the late afternoon hours on the island of Maui, a sense of concern began to grow for Brandon Romero. He had traveled from his residence in Kihei to Hana for a medical appointment, seeking help for a persistent pain in his lower right side. The last confirmed sighting of the 40-year-old was in the clinic's parking lot as the doctor departed for the day. After that moment, communication from Brandon ceased.
Having resided on Maui for approximately seven years, he kept in touch with his loved ones on the mainland through social media, as he did not own a cell phone. When days turned into weeks without any word, his family officially reported him as a missing person on October 17, 2022, initiating an official investigation into his whereabouts.
The day after he was last seen, a puzzling discovery was made roughly 22 miles from the doctor's office in Hana. Park rangers at the Kaumahina State Wayside Park noticed Brandon's blue 2005 Toyota Tacoma parked and unattended. Troublingly, the vehicle was found unlocked, and inside were his wallet and keys, items one would not expect to be left behind. This discovery only deepened the mystery, as it offered no clear direction as to Brandon's path. In a strange turn of events, the truck itself vanished from the park a day later, on September 8, and has not been located since, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding situation.
The Maui Police Department continues to investigate the case, which remains fraught with unanswered questions. Described as a Caucasian male, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 155 pounds, with a shaved head and brown eyes, Brandon's disappearance has left his community and family in a state of prolonged uncertainty. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing are considered unclear. The investigation involves the department's Cold Case and Missing Person Detail, highlighting the ongoing effort to find answers. The case is an overview of a man who went for a doctor's appointment and was never heard from again, leaving behind his vehicle with personal belongings, which then also disappeared, creating a perplexing and distressing mystery.Last Seen: Sep 6, 2022
