Essie May Copeland, a 70-year-old resident of Monticello, Florida, tragically lost her life on August 23, 2022. On that evening, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) responded to a reported shooting in the area of East Clark Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Copeland suffering from gunshot wounds.
