Scott Edward Shirk, a 23-year-old man, was last seen on February 2, 2015, in Flathead County, Montana. Scott was a welder at the time of his disappearance and had graduated from Kingman High School in Arizona in 2009. He was reported missing after he failed to make contact with friends or family, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Several months later, in June 2015, two men were arrested in connection with the theft of a truck. One of them, Jeffrey Schubauer, had been using Scott’s identity, presenting Shirk’s driver's license when apprehended.
Schubauer, an Alaskan fugitive, had a long criminal history, but there was no clear link established between him and Shirk's disappearance.
