In a tragic turn of events on October 12, 2025, a family dispute in a northwest Las Vegas apartment escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of Tia Jurado. The 53-year-old woman was shot and killed during a heated argument with her husband, Christopher Ford, who has since been charged with her murder.
The conflict reportedly arose from ongoing relationship problems and disagreements over their shared business.
On the day of the incident, the argument intensified, leading Jurado to attempt to leave the residence. When her husband refused to give her the car keys, she threatened to call the police. In response, Christopher Ford retrieved a firearm and shot his wife multiple times near the front door of their apartment.
The couple's adult son, Javeh Ford, was present during the altercation and was also shot and critically wounded by his father after the initial shooting. Javeh, who was also armed, returned fire in self-defense, injuring his father. When police arrived at the scene, they found Tia Jurado unresponsive; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Christopher and Javeh Ford were transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries.
Following the incident, Christopher Ford, 53, was arrested and charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. His son's account of the events, which portrayed his actions as self-defense, was reportedly consistent with ballistic and video evidence found at the scene.
