The account provided by those present stated that Brandon fell from the Reed Point Bridge into the Yellowstone River. At the time of the incident, the river was dangerously swollen and moving swiftly with the seasonal runoff. Brandon was quickly lost from sight in the turbulent water and has not been seen or heard from since.
The Stillwater County Sheriff/Coroner's Office was notified and began an investigation into the disappearance. Extensive search and recovery efforts were launched, involving boats and divers.
