Daniel Lynn Campbell, 41 years old at the time, disappeared on April 6, 1991, after being dropped off with his dog at the Hellroaring Creek trailhead in Yellowstone National Park. He lived in Big Timber, Montana, and had planned to hike through the area, potentially retrieving elk antlers he had previously hidden. He was supposed to reach Jardine, Montana, but never arrived. A search was launched on April 9, but neither Campbell nor his dog was ever found.
