Michael Daniel Harp, aged 23, was last seen on March 23, 1977, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was spotted leaving a hospital on South Telshor Boulevard, where he was reportedly being treated for an unspecified medical condition. Shortly afterward, he was seen hitchhiking along Interstate 25 near the hospital. A truck driver later claimed to have picked up a hitchhiker matching Michael's description, dropping him off south of Albuquerque, but this sighting was never confirmed.
