On September 27, 2024, at approximately 12:26 a.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to the Brighton Police Department following reports of a shooting victim seeking assistance. Upon arrival, they found 28-year-old Kandyce Marie Williams of Trussville, Alabama, who had been transported to the station after sustaining a gunshot wound at an undisclosed location.
