Robert Ernest Spurlock, a 19-year-old U.S. Army private, disappeared on December 2, 1981, from Wheeler Army Airfield in Schofield, Hawaii. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Spurlock had just completed his basic training and arrived in Hawaii for his first assignment. Days prior to his disappearance, on November 28, 1981, Spurlock made a distressed phone call to his family, asking to speak with his mother.
