Lance Kaowili, a 47-year-old man from Kalama Valley, Honolulu, went missing on March 24, 2011, while bodysurfing at Sandy Beach. Known as a regular surfer at this location, Kaowili was last seen entering the water wearing black board shorts and fins. His vehicle was discovered parked at the beach, but he never returned from the water. Friends, noticing his absence for two days, alerted authorities, leading to an extensive search by the Honolulu Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.
